Mount Rushmore
The last time we were here was 1988 and much has changed. The gravel parking lot just yards from the monument is gone and a large parking garage, promenade and amphitheater is there now. There is a trail leading along the base of the mountain. It lets you get a closer look.
We arrived at the campground in the late afternoon. That night we attended the lighting ceremony. It was a very touching ceremony.

As you drive out, rounding the mountain there is a profile view of Washington
The Crazy Horse Monument is nearby. We didn't go in.
